COVID Catch Up Premium Spending Strategy
In June 2020, a £1 billion fund for education was announced by the government. Further guidance has now been released showing that the money is split between catch-up premium and a national tutoring scheme. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-catch-up-premium.
The catch-up premium is on a per pupil basis. To support schools to make the best use of this funding, the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) has published a support guide for schools with evidence-based approaches to catch up for all pupils; we have used the ‘Tiered Model Approach’ using the EEF guidance.
The overall aims of our catch-up premium strategy are:
- To ensure that all children are ready to learn by supporting their emotional and wellbeing needs.
- To raise the attainment of all pupils to close the gap created by COVID-19 school closure.
- To ensure that timely interventions are put in place to address any gaps in knowledge and understanding created by the school closure period.
